From a young age as a family, we cared for my grandparents who all had Alzheimer’s disease which has installed a huge instinct to care for others. I truly believe everyone has their own journey, which is forever a rollercoaster of emotional phases. I am no stranger to mental health, battling through various experiences throughout my own life. I’ve been in and out of therapy over the last ten years and find feeling self-aware of my own needs has been key to my continuous progression in all aspects that I deem a priority in my own life. There is no one road for mental health and I’ve enjoyed learning what works for me and finding the simple pleasures in life. Currently, I am in my third and final year of university studying, criminology and psychology. On completion, I plan to take another year to gain my master’s in psychology. While I’ve been studying it’s been glorious to give myself a few years solely on myself, however, I’m itching to give back and hopefully install some empowerment back into others. As my favourite motivational speaker, Les Brown says “embrace your greatness” and every individual deserves to flourish on their own.
